The White House responded today, issuing a formal threat to veto the House bill because of what they call inadequate funding. Meanwhile, the partial government shutdown continues into its 13th day, as Trump’s allies urge him to keep the government closed while he seeks money for his wall, saying that even if he isn’t ultimately successful in receiving the $5.6 billion he’s asking for, it’s too soon to reopen the government. There is a reason that the dichotomy of the Pyramids vs the Traveler, multitudinous identical simple objects that break apart vs one infinitely complex object that comes together, doesn't just lead to the death of the lonely object but a long and drawn out stalemate. There is a reason the Traveler hasn't broken our connection to the Light simply for getting in touch with our connection to the Dark. She wants us to be strong even when she isn't there for us. If we had access to Darkness when the Traveler was captured by the Red Legion, we could have saved lives, and she would have been happy that we did. She wants us to understand ourselves, all of ourselves. She knows that there are worthwhile things that can be drawn from the Dark. Exo and Awoken Guardians existing, even with Darkness inherent to the core of their beings, is evidence of that. The Traveler is not the Light or the Sky. The Pyramids are not the Dark or the Deep. When we wield Stasis, we simply get in touch with more of our nature. Stasis/Darkness subclasses won't corrupt every Guardian who wields them, just as not every Lightbearing Risen was perfect. The Pyramids do not understand (or choose to argue from a position that ignores) that the very simplicity they seek cannot exist without complexity as contrast. The Traveler understands the opposite, and wants us to see it without being told that outright. The fact that the Traveler gave Guardians free will, the ability to question her motives and choose their own paths, is itself proof of her good nature. Doubters may talk about her loyal corpse army, but the fact that defectors exist is proof of her argument's good faith. The fact that she still grants visions of Light to Guardians who have used the Darkness through the Hawkmoon quest is evidence of her trust in us. Let's show her we deserve that trust.
